Kerry Library Classroom Novels Collection
Kerry Library has developed a Classroom Novels Collection as part of its schools support programme.
The collection has been extended to over 130 titles, covering a variety of genres and age groups, and can be borrowed by all Primary and Secondary school teachers based in Kerry.

How to use the collection
- Register for a Teacher's account at your local library. A Teacher's account is registered under the teacher's name but is separate from a teacher's personal library membership account.
- One class set may be borrowed at a time for a maximum of 40 days.
- A standard class set contains 30 copies of a title. Some set may have fewer copies available.
- A catalogue listing the collection alphabetically by author is available to download here, with a supplementary catalogue of new Irish Language titles available to download here. The catalogue uses an icon code pictured below to describe genre and subject matter of the titles. Print copies of this catalogue are available from your local library.

- A listing of the titles in the collection categorised by reading age is also available here to assist with your selection of an appropriate title for your class.
- Contact your local library to request the title you are looking for. We would encourage teacher's to browse the catalogue for alternative titles also in case your first choice is already on loan. Contact details and open hours for your local library can be viewed here.
- There are no charges/ fines on class sets but it is still very important for teacher's to borrow and return their class sets within the 40 day loan period so that we can provide a reliable and prompt service to all teachers.
- Your local library will order your class set and will notify you once it is available for collection.

The aim of the #DiscoverIrishKidsBooks campaign is to highlight and celebrate Irish children's books. Ireland is a country that produces some of the best writers in the world and we have some incredible children's authors and illustrators living on this island.
