Becoming a Member of Kerry Library
Kerry Library membership is completely free of charge to all.
To join Kerry Library you will need to complete a library application form online or at your local library and present at your nearest library with a photo ID and proof of address.
If you already have a valid membership card for any public library in the country you will be able to use this to borrow and reserve items and to use our online resources.
There is no minimum age for joining, but those under the age of 18 years require a signature from their parent or guardian. Parents/guardians are responsible for their children in the library, their children’s selections and use of library materials and services, including access to the Internet

Joining the library online is a quick way to become a member of your local library. Once you register you will receive a temporary library number. Visit your local library within 3 months with photo ID and proof of address to collect your new library card. Registering online gives you immediate access to all our online resources and enables you to reserve one item immediately and collect it later at the library branch of your choice.
Membership Conditions
Membership will allow you to use the library services as follows:
Adult: access to all library collections, and internet services subject to the terms and conditions outlined.
Child under 12: access to the children’s library, to DVDs up to a PG rating.
Young Adult 12-14: access to the children’s and young adult library, to DVDs up to a 12 rating.
Young Adult 15-17: access to the adult library, to DVDs up to 15 rating, and to internet services.
You can renew your membership annually.
Your library card is individual to you and may not be used by anyone else. Bring your card to the library every time you visit. You are asked to advise library staff, as soon as possible, of any changes in membership details or loss of library card.
Adults and persons with a young adult’s ticket can access the Internet in the library, subject to the Internet access policy.
You must at all times observe the Kerry Library Code of Conduct (available here) while using the library facilities and comply with the conditions of the Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000. Public libraries operate within the statutory framework in relation to all services including the Code of Behaviour for the protection and safeguarding of children in public libraries 2014. Library users must comply with all associated requirements.
